What’s Your Vision?

Last week’s Tip referred to the importance of defining your future focus or vision as the starting point for planning. Whether your plans for the new year are based on resolutions, a theme, goal setting, or a word of the year, it all connects back to your vision.

We are kicking off 2022 with a month focused on vision – setting it, communicating it, and executing it. Here are some great thoughts to inspire you:

  • Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world. – Joel A. Barker
  • “Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.” – Jonathan Swift
  • Where there is no vision, there is no hope. – George Washington Carver
  • “A vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more.” – Rosabeth Moss Kanter

  • “People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.” – John C. Maxwell
  • Leadership is about vision and responsibility, not power. – Seth Berkley
  • “Vision is a destination – a fixed point to which we focus all effort. Strategy is a route – an adaptable path to get us where we want to go.” – Simon Sinek
  • Strategic planning is worthless – unless there is first a strategic vision. – John Naisbitt
  • “One’s vision is not a road map but a compass.” – Peter Block

  • I’ve learned that fear limits you and your vision. It serves as blinders to what may be just a few steps down the road for you. The journey is valuable, but believing in your talents, your abilities, and your self-worth can empower you to walk down an even brighter path. Transforming fear into freedom – how great is that? – Soledad O’Brien
  • “Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” – Carl Jung
