Rules for Life, from an Abrupt Humanist

This morning I learned that the world may actually not end in 2012.  Upon sharing this with others in our organization one of our colleagues was shocked and stated that perhaps it was not a good idea to eat cake for breakfast! Being the humanist that I am I felt compelled to calm her emotions with the abrupt and warm statement “It’s always time for cake”.  This led to other random thoughts I offer in the humor category of this blog.  Enjoy!

  • It’s always time for cake
    • “My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start.  So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M’s, and a chocolate cake.  I feel better already!” ~Dave Barry
  • God Bless You; now get a life
    • The pity train has just derailed at the corner of “Suck it Up” and “Move On” and has crashed into “We all have problems” before coming to a stop at “Get over it.”
  • Don’t suffer fools gladly
    • If you find it hard to laugh at yourself I’d be happy to do it for you.
    • I’ll try being nicer if you’ll try being smarter
  • Life is too short to drink bad wine
    • “Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy.” ~Benjamin Franklin
    • It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking wine: the arrival of a friend, one’s present or future thirst, the excellence of the wine, or any other reason. ~Latin Proverb
  • Lead, follow or get out of my way
    • I apologize for offending you with my opinion.  You should hear the ones I keep to myself!
